Associate Professor of Equine Sports Medicine at the University of Copenhagen

The section of Equine Internal Medicine and Sports medicine at the University of Copenhagen Large Animal Teaching Hospital is seeking applications for an Associate Professor in Equine Sports Medicine, starting 1 March 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative clinical and research environment with strong expertise in equine medicine, cardiology, respiratory medicine, orthopaedics, and translational research. The position will play a key role in developing research and teaching within equine sports medicine, with particular emphasis on muscular development, performance, rehabilitation, and muscle disease.

Responsibilities include:
Conducting internationally competitive research in equine sports medicine.
Teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary students.
Providing clinical service within the university equine hospital and ambulatory practice.
Leading research projects, mentoring researchers and students, and attracting external funding.
Contributing to curriculum development and academic leadership within the department.

Applicants should hold a DVM and PhD (or equivalent), have a strong publication record in equine internal medicine and/or sports medicine, and substantial experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research leadership. Diplomate status in ECEIM, ACVIM-LA or ECVSMR is considered an advantage.

The position includes the opportunity to negotiate a start-up package of up to DKK 2.5 million to support the development of the successful candidate’s research programme. The package may be used to support scientific activities, including funding for a PhD candidate, providing an excellent opportunity to establish and expand an independent research group.
