Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) – Veterinary Continuing Education Company (remote, fulltime position)

VetPD operates worldwide with ‘headquarters’ in the UK, and has staff in the USA, South Africa, Australia, and France.
Location: Remote (home-based); Preference will be given to UK-based candidates. Must be within convenient driving distance from an international airport.
Work Hours: Full-time (flexible work hours) which can be adjusted to meet individual needs. Occasional weekday evening meetings are required. Occasional national and international travel will be required, including over some weekends.
Starting Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per year plus performance-related bonus (commensurate with relevant experience & qualifications).

We are seeking a passionate, proactive and collaborative Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) to join the VetPD Executive Leadership Team.
The CVO will play a pivotal role in shaping VetPD’s educational strategy, maintaining the highest standards of scientific and clinical quality, and operational excellence. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, the successful candidate will oversee and contribute to the development, planning and delivery of veterinary education programmes across multiple species, disciplines, and offering types. This role combines operational oversight with hands-on execution and requires an individual who is an excellent communicator, people manager and organiser.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned equine veterinarian ideally with experience in both education and leadership who is passionate, self-motivated, exceptionally organised, data-driven and an excellent communicator and networker.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Online Learning Content Leadership
- Drive the development and execution of VetPD’s online education strategy
- Lead the planning and management of new Panel Discussions, MasterClasses and Custom-made online events
- Oversight of VetPD’s Online Learning & Live-Stream Hosting Teams
- Review outcomes and feedback to continuously maintain and/or improve quality and relevance
- Develop and review online learning material titles, descriptions and related resources
- Occasional hosting of Online Learning Events
• Workshop & Destination Event Success Oversight
- Contribute to annual global event planning activities and associated data & competition analysis
- Oversee educational program design, learning objectives & event development
- Manage relationships with hosting clinics, speakers and equipment providers / sponsors
- Maintain oversight of event accreditations, approvals and ethics approvals, where required
- Ensure the appropriate equipment, consumables, specimens and VetPD simulators are sourced and available for events, including coordination with providers and sponsors
- Maintain oversight of the VetPD consumables & equipment inventory
- Arrange and conduct pre-course and related meetings with speakers, partner clinics and VetPD staff
- Veterinary oversight of VetPD’s Course Administration Team
- Course Administration on select events
• Management of Sponsorship & Veterinary Partnerships
- Oversee and guide the sponsorship manager
- Build and manage relationships with sponsors and veterinary partners/associations.
- Attend select international conferences to network with companies and key opinion leaders
• Marketing & Website
- Provide content leadership for marketing activities
- Review marketing materials to ensure scientific accuracy and alignment with a ‘zero-defect’ policy
- Support conference and exhibition activities globally
- Maintain oversight of offerings on the VetPD website including descriptions, detail accuracy, imagery, news / blog posts etc.
• Leadership & Organisational Development
- Serve as a member of VetPD’s Executive Leadership Team
- Contribute to regular reporting, strategic planning and long-term operational growth
- Support policy, procedure and operational improvements
- Supervision of VetPD’s teams, contribute to staff development, support, performance reviews and organisational culture initiatives
• External Representation
- Act as an ambassador for VetPD within the global veterinary community
- Promote VetPD’s educational mission and strengthen its reputation as a leader in first class veterinary continuing education
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Essential:
• Several years of experience as an equine veterinarian in clinical practice (academia or private practice)
• Passionate about veterinary education and contributing to raising the standard of veterinary practice
• Proven leadership skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong project management and organisational skills, with exceptional attention to detail
• Outstanding critical-thinking skills with ability to structure and solve complex problems
• A self-starter with initiative and creativity
• Commercial awareness and strategic thinking skills
• Strong work ethic with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced international environment
• Ability and willingness to adapt work hours to accommodate international stakeholders
• Valid and clean drivers licence. The successful applicant will be comfortable driving in foreign countries
Highly desirable:
- Specialist or Advanced Practitioner status
- Experience as a speaker and/or instructor, involvement in postgraduate training or curriculum development
- Published clinical researcher, or other scientific experience
- International professional network within the veterinary profession
