Extenuating personal circumstances

Extenuating circumstances (EC) are situations that are beyond the control of the applicant. Examples of such situations include:

  • Illness affecting the applicant.
  • Bereavement.
  • Serious illness affecting a close family member.
  • Unforeseeable or unpreventable events.

The ECEIM Executive Board recognises that ECs may affect the ability of a Diplomate to obtain the required points for Diplomate recertification. A Diplomate is encouraged to contact the ECC chair with any questions and/or concerns regarding their circumstances. When submitting an application for recognition of ECs, a Diplomate must use the official application template provided.
