Oniris VetAgroBio Nantes is a French public institution of higher education and research that offers a wide range of initial training programs (BTSA, engineering degree, veterinary degree) and continuing education to more than 1200 students. It is jointly accredited to award Master's degrees and the University Doctorate degree. The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Oniris is a leading structure, staffed by EBVS-recognized specialists and supported by a high-level technical platform. It provides a wide range of care through its three specialized clinics: Companion Animals, Equines, and Farm Animals.

CISCO, THE EQUINE CLINIC OF ONIRIS
The CISCO is the equine clinic of Oniris and offers owners of equids (horses, ponies, donkeys) and referring veterinarians a specialized service for the diagnosis and treatment of equine conditions.
The team includes more than 20 equine veterinarians including 6 EBVS-recognized veterinary specialists (2 Diplomates of the ECEIM, 3 Diplomates of the ECVS, 1 Diplomate of the ECVAA, and 1 Diplomate of the ECAR), 2 ECEIM residents, 2 ECVS residents, 1 ECVAA resident, 1 ECAR resident, 2 to 4 hospital assistants and 4 to 9 interns.
The CISCO offers consultations in all disciplines, surgical interventions, hospitalizations, and a 24/7 emergency service, while also providing training for future equine veterinarians (5th-year students, 6th-year equine specialization students, as well as interns and residents). 
The CISCO features 50 hospitalization stalls, including multiple intensive care units and specialized mare/foal stalls. Additionally, it houses 5 consultation rooms, 2 surgical blocks equipped with 2 recovery stalls each, a dedicated round pen for orthopedic examinations and a state-of-the-art reproduction center. A whole new cutting-edge isolation building designed for contagious animal is also currently under construction to replace the old one.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Equine Clinic of Oniris is currently seeking a full-time Senior Clinician in Equine Internal Medicine, with a workload of 38 hours per week. This position has become available due to the rapid growth and diversity of our caseload, which encompasses a wide range of cases (respiratory, cardiology, digestive, sports medicine, neonatal intensive care …).
The successful candidate will be tasked with diagnosing and treating complex internal medicine cases in horses, with a particular emphasis on emergency and critical care. Additionally, they will play a key role in teaching and mentoring residents, interns, and veterinary students in the field of equine internal medicine. Therefore, the position involves providing clinical services, including emergency care, as well as supervising interns and ECEIM residents. Moreover, the candidate will be responsible for instructing 5th and 6th-year students during their clinical rotations.
Applicants must be able to manage all aspects of equine internal medicine emergencies and to deliver high-quality, evidence-based education. Depending on the candidate's interests and qualifications, opportunities for clinical research activities and/or administrative tasks may also be available.
The candidate will be required to participate in night and weekend on-call duties, with a rotation of one night per week and one weekend on-call duty per month. Financial remuneration will be delivered for these on-call activities.
Contract type: 1 year fixed contract (Permanent position may be considered upon agreement of both parties at the end of the contract).
Salary: Competitive salary based on experience. 
Starting date: September 1st, 2024 (Starting date arrangement may be considered).

QUALIFICATIONS
•    Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from a recognized veterinary school to work in France
•    Strong experience with diagnosing and treating complex internal medicine, emergency and critical care cases in horses
•    Proficiency in diagnostic procedures such as ultrasound, endoscopy, and imaging
•    ECEIM or ACVIM board certification or eligibility would be ideal but is not mandatory
•    Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
•    Strong work ethic
•    Strong ability to work in a team
•    Good French and English skills are mandatory for the position.
